Colorful Butttercream Frosting

Buttercream frosting goes from “boring” to beautiful with Color from Nature™ Food Colors. Available in a variety of hues, they’re an easy way to add color to any frosted masterpiece. Bring on the cookies, cupcakes, and frosting-coated brownies!


Colorful Butttercream Frosting


  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
  • 2 tsps McCormick® Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 1 box (16 ounces) confectioners' sugar, sifted
  • 2 tbsps milk
  • McCormick® Color from Nature™ - Food Colors


  1. Beat butter in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Add vanilla; mix well.
  2. Gradually beat in confectioners' sugar, beating until well blended after each addition, frequently scraping sides and bottom of bowl. Add milk; beat until light and fluffy. Color as desired (see tip below for assorted frosting colors). If frosting is too thick to spread, gradually beat in additional milk. Store in refrigerator up to 2 weeks. Rewhip before using.
